Pump Design and Analysis

We at Pythagoras, continually focus on optimizing pump design to improve the efficiency and meeting the industrial design standards by using finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).

Most recently, Pythagoras Engineering collaborated with one of the largest pump manufacturer in the design improvement process of a legacy OH3 pump design to meet the demanding Nozzle loads and Motion loads requirements of FPSO.

Key FEA activities carried:

  • Structural analysis of base skids during lifting, Transport, In-
  • Weld strength evaluation
  • Bolt utilization calculation
  • Design of saddles to optimize the dynamic characteristic of the pump assembly
  • Pad eye design calculation
  • Stress analysis of the pump casing by taking account of Nozzle loads and Motion Loads.
  • Design optimization
  • Industrial design code qualification
  • Modal, Harmonic, Random and shock load analysis on the pump assembly
  • Durability analysis

Design Validations as per Industrial codes

  • API
  • ISO
  • DNV
  • ASME section VIII division 2 & 3
  • Eurocode etc

Our FEA expertise combined with our industry-renowned process will mitigate your risk, improve the performance of your product, shorten your lead times and reduce your costs.
